To Our Over Ten Thousand Supporters (View in The Comment Section of The Website) over the years:
My name is Johnny Carrasquillo and I've been proudly involved with Teens Against Drugs and Alcohol since I was sixteen years old.
I lived in Eatonville Florida in the projects with my mom, my dad, my sister and brother. One day my sister found a flier that offered work for teens and she started working. A few weeks later my mom got interested in the program and decided to get involved. After my mom got involved with the program me and my brother joined and it only took a few months before moving out of the projects and into our own house.
My mom became one of the top mentor/coaches in the organization and when she decided to leave I continued as a volunteer. I went from being an assistant to one of the mentors/coaches to becoming a mentor/coach myself. Not much later I becmae area manager and finally President/Director.
I gave my heart and life to make the program as well recognized as the Boys and Girl Scouts of America. I helped thousands of families across central Florida by providing their teens with something positive to do after school and at the same time providing them an income. Teenagers attended recreational activities, seminars and everyday they pledged to say no to drugs and alcohol.
Many of those teenagers took what they learned to another level and right now excel in their professions, from district manager at Enterprise rental cars to high rankings in the army.
My mission was temporarily paused when one day our group got stopped by Officer Christopher Jones from the Palm Bay Police Department and I was accused of HUMAN TRAFFICKING, CHILD NEGLECT, KIDNAPPING AND FELONY CHILD ABUSE. Officer Christopher Jones failed to read me my rights at the time of the arrest, he also put in danger the remaining teenagers in the group by cutting communication with me and leaving teenagers in the streets until 9pm.
There were 24 kids in the group that day with a total of five supervisors and three vehicles assisting. Officer Christopher Jones made it seam like there was only one vehicle with 24 kids in it and that was his report on national television -- slandering me and our youth program.
Its been a year and a half and all charges have being dismissed except for Child Neglect. There are over 350 pictures of me giving awards, organizing activities and having a great time doing it. My intentions where always to keep these kids away from trouble by giving them something positive to do like the program did for me and my siblings.
The organization is self-sustaining Florida charity that only raises money through our fundraisers, we never have asked the government for help and we are very proud of that.
What I've experienced and the damage done to Teens Against Drugs and Alcohol is almost incomprehensible and it all happened because of one man looking to make a name for himself, Officer Christopher Jones.
